I Quit My Job
Here's how it happened
You might have read a lot of I quit my job because I want to be an entrepreneur. And my story is the same. I'm 22 and I have nothing to lose. I'm gonna give it my best. But here's what actually happened.
I got a job offer even before I graduated from my college because I had a book blog on Instagram and you guys came to my newsletter from there only.
And I was a bit sceptical about it. Because Let's just be honest, I have read a lot of books that jobs are evil, they make you a slave and I used to believe in them too. So, I never thought of getting a job.
But, a few big influencers convinced me that you can work a 9 to 5 and still work on creating a business with the rest of the time. And I thought okay, I just gotta manage my time well. And I took the job.
1 month in. I was exercising, eating well, reading books, creating content, and taking YouTube seriously alongside working my 9 to 5.
But the second month, I fell ill. My diet started going bad, I stopped exercising, I reduced the number of content I produced, and I was inconsistent with my YouTube uploads.
3rd month in and my mental health was taking a toll. I could manage my time well, but the differentiating factor was energy management. I do a creative job as a content writer, after using my creative side and working for 9 hours. I didn't have any energy left within me to take action when I came back to my room.
I overestimated how much I could do and decided to make the change. But I didn't apply for a resignation letter. I journaled about it and talked about it with a lot of friends but I still had this nagging feeling that I could do more.
Thus in my 4th month of job, I applied for resignation and I had to serve a 30 days notice period. I would be relieved from my duties by the 23rd of December and I'm happy.
Although, I will be going back to my small home town leaving the metro city of Kolkata. I'm happy because now I would be able to give my 100% attention to my content creation.
But that's not all. I have already got 2 freelancing clients which has secured my income stream and I will be freelancing on the side to pay for my expenses.
So, That's it. I want to be a content creator. I want to make money as an entrepreneur. And that's why I quit my job.
